Technology, communication and, most importantly, the Internet have made trade in services a global and nearly seamless phenomenon. The strong growth in the service sector, coupled with the tendency of U.S. firms to move service activities to cheaper, more efficient locations, has resulted in the recent acceleration of this trend. The increase in the offshoring of service activities and fears about the resulting migration of American jobs overseas will continue to draw nationwide attention.
