GMPs For Belgrade, Zagreb Planned
Thursday, July 10, 2008

WDI’s Executive Education will deliver two General Management Programs this fall, running the program in Belgrade for the first time and returning to Zagreb for the sixth consecutive year. The Zagreb School of Economics & Management will partner with WDI for both programs.

The Zagreb program will be Oct. 13-18 and Oct. 24-28. The Belgrade program will be Oct. 15-18 and Oct. 24-30. WDI will be offering three Teeter Scholarships for the Zagreb program and five for the Belgrade program. The scholarships are full tuition awards granted on a competitive basis to managers of non-governmental organizations and small, regional firms. They are named in honor of Robert Teeter, a WDI board member who passed away in 2004.

The intensive 10-day mini-MBA program combines both theory and practice in covering Marketing, Strategy, Organizational Behavior/HR Management, Finance, and Accounting. They are taught in English and are designed for high potential and senior-level managers. Offered since 1993, these are the Institute's most popular executive education programs.

Amy Gillett, director of WDI’s Executive Education program, said she is excited to expand the partnership with the Zagreb School of Economics & Management (ZSEM) and to offer the General Management Program in Zagreb and Belgrade for 2008.

“We have had great success with the program in Zagreb every year since 2002, attracting about 25 managers from local and multinational companies for each program,” Gillett said. “They see great value in being able to acquire best practices in five key management areas in just 10 days. We look forward to offering the program now to managers from across Serbia.

“With economic growth in Serbia strong, we believe this is a good time for companies there to invest in training their management.”

Many of the cases and examples used in the classroom are based on the William Davidson Institute’s experiences with companies which operate in emerging and transitional markets around the world. The General Management Program enables participants to acquire a broad, cross functional approach to general management. Participants leave the program with an improved skill set, and fresh ideas for approaching critical business issues. Upon completion of the program, participants receive General Management Program certificates issued by the William Davidson Institute and the Zagreb School of Economics & Management.

The quality of the General Management Program is unmatched in the region. The program features professors from the top-ranking Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and other leading U.S. business schools. The caliber of the participants is similarly impressive, with most holding senior level management positions in multi-national companies.

The General Management Program is designed to:

• Provide participants with core business management skills and improve their executive skills
• Enable participants to acquire a broad, cross-functional approach to general management
• Help participants strengthen their leadership skills
• Provide participants with course materials, reading and reference tools that can be used later in their daily operations
• Give participants an ongoing professional peer network
