Business and Economics Education
- Rwanda - The government of Rwanda, wanting to turn its School of Finance and Banking (SFB) into a regional center of excellence among East African business schools, signed a five-year agreement with the William Davidson Institute to provide capacity building for the school. (>>more)
- Central Asian Republics - A follow-on activity to the Economics and Business Education project, this project is developing stronger links among businesses and universities in the Central Asian Republics, making business and economics programs more responsive to the needs of businesses, creating sustainable faculty development and advocacy mechanisms, and capitalizing on opportunities presented by ministries to move educational institutions towards international standards in economics and business education. - Uzbekistan - WDI is working with the International Business School (IBS), the country's only private post-secondary institution, to gain accreditation for its bachelor's degree program in business administration and to ensure its viability by strengthening academic programs, investing in faculty, establishing private-sector partnerships and streamlining its administrative structure. - Ukraine - This project focused on business education development project and had a country wide reach. The objectives of the project included strengthening undergraduate business education; establishing graduate (MBA) business education and executive education at more advanced schools; fostering business school linkages with the private sector and government and ensuring the sustainability of management education in the Ukraine. - Russia - WDI worked with Ural State University in Yekaterinburg, Russia, to develop the first accredited graduate program in applied economics in Russia (and the first Center for Applied Economic Research outside Moscow and St. Petersburg), and to enhance faculty teaching and research capabilities, the administrative organization of the economics department, and the financial sustainability of the school. - Namibia - WDI helped to strengthen economics and business education at the country's flagship post-secondary institution, the University of Namibia, through curricular innovations, faculty development and linkages with private-sector institutions. (>>more)
- Africa - WDI worked with the International Finance Corporation to assess post-secondary business education in seven countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. (>>more)
